Last Saturday I joined a Rose Club community event in support of Shanty Town Spirit at the Cambodiana Hotel — a mix of pickleball, laughter, and quiet purpose.
Each player was paired with a child supported by the Shanty Town Spirit initiative. Instead of formal ceremonies or distant donations, we played together, side by side.
The idea came from Princess Ermine Norodom and Prince Narithipong Norodom, who created a space where play itself became a form of empathy.
Thank you, Anthony (Tony) Francis, for inviting me and for making this bridge between worlds feel so natural.
It reminded me how much small, thoughtful design choices —
in communities or in companies —
can shift the tone from charity to connection.
P.S. Grateful also to Luca Bonomi for bringing in such positive energy in your role as referee!
